We’re so excited for Cinco de Mayo because, in our book, it signifies the start of summer! In the spirit of the holiday, we’re here to share some ideas for celebrating. We hope this post inspires you to create new traditions that will last for years. Be sure to share your favorite activities with us on social media by tagging #828purpose.
Eat Mexican Food for Dinner
You can’t celebrate Cinco de Mayo without eating a Mexican dinner, whether it’s homemade or out at your favorite Mexican restaurant. Tacos are such an easy dinner to make that they have become a staple in many families’ homes on Tuesday, hence Taco Tuesday! We also love this recipe for beef enchiladas. Going out for Mexican food is an even easier option where you can celebrate without the fuss of cooking and can easily get your favorite frozen margarita without the mess. Plus, you can wear one of your favorite fiesta dresses like the Cleobella Morina Gingham Ankle Dress or the Gretchen Scott Viviers Maxi Dress.
Want to celebrate with a dessert but running low on time? We love this super simple churro recipe using Pillsbury Crescent Rolls. Lay them out and top half with melted butter and cinnamon sugar. Then, cover the cinnamon sugar with the other halves of crescent rolls. Using a pizza cutter, cut each section into 5 or 6 strips, twist them together and then place them on a baking sheet. Bake at 325 degrees until golden brown, about 8-10 minutes. Finally, cover with another layer of butter and cinnamon sugar and enjoy!

Wear Your Fiesta Outfits
If you have kids, get them involved by letting them help you make the churros and lay out the taco bar! While you’re celebrating and making fun traditions, wear your favorite 8.28 Boutique outfit.
